We all die. Yes, as frightening as it sounds, we all die and return to the Almighty.
My blog today depicts a special person in our family circle and that is of Mas Adjie Massaid. My second cousin from mom, who was 1/3-Dutch, dad Javanese (mom's cousin) and mom half Dutch-Ambonese.
I didn't get to know him well, only because my mom was posted in different countries before she retired in 2003. He came to Indonesia to live with his dad in 1988 (his parents divorced in the 70's I think, and both of them remarried), which then, we were still in Rome so we weren't formally introduced.
Mom recalled she met him after we came back from Rome, and by then he was already starting to become a model and an actor. He was a very good looking man and was soon adored by the female kind. As a cousin he was simple, down to earth, doesn't really act like he was famous at all. He was just Mas Adjie and we loved him for that.
We haven't met with him after a long time, until he and mom got together in an organization sometimes in mid 2000s and we rekindled our relations once again.
What I always remember of him was how charming he was when talking to us and the way he spoke Dutch with mom was so fluent, that I forget he was actually Indonesian and a relative!
Now that he's gone it doesn't mean we should be grieving. No, sadness doesn't bring anything positive in return. It's hard to face the truth because his death is so sudden, but I know his children would not be happy if we are still grief-stricken because they have learned to let go. If they are alright, then we should be too. I still can't believe he's gone, but I know God has other plans and life in particular, is just a transition for us to be in a better place.
May mas Adjie rest in peace.... A beautiful soul and a beautiful person. Goodbye...
